Regina C. "Jean" Driskel, 86, Cresson, formerly of Loretto, died Monday at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
She was born in Loretto RD, daughter of the late William and Rose (Sherry) Hite.
Surviving are six children: Lois Duman of Carrolltown, Joyce (Bill) Krug and Michael (Mary Mock), both of Loretto, Raymond (Patty Jo Hall) and Ernie, both of Gallitzin, and Jane Ann (Bruce) Schlosser of Ebensburg; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jo Anna (Costlow) Driskel; a sister, Rita Farabaugh of Loretto; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, on April 11, 1996; two sons: Rick and infant Glenn; a grandson, Jared; five sisters: Grace Krug, Eleanor Krug, Louise Wyland, Martha Dillon and infant Marie; and three brothers: Gerald, Irwin and William.
Jean was a graduate of Adalen Beauty School, Altoona. She had worked at St. Francis College as a cook for several years and at the Ebensburg Center in food service, retiring in 1990 after 15 years of service. She was a member of Cresson and Loretto Senior Citizens, Altar and Rosary Society and Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto.
Jean loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her friends and playing cinch with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto, the Rev. Malachi Van Tassell officiating. Committal will be in the church cemetery.
