I. Dale Frye

I. Dale Frye, 76, Roaring Spring, died Saturday at Valley View Home, following a brief illness.

He was born in Martinsburg, son of the late Clayton and Alice (Kreider) Frye. He was twice married, first to Ora Dale Patterson on Nov. 7, 1957. She died on July 14, 2011. He then married Helen (Corle) Long on Sept. 13, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of Roaring Spring; two sons: Rodney D. Frye of Lakemont and Barry H. Frye and wife, Deborah, of Roaring Spring; a granddaughter, Kathy Hoffman, and husband, John, of Huber Heights, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jhon, Zack, Emma and Allison; five stepchildren: Elaine Mobley and husband, Ken, of Blue Knob, Michele Howard and fiancee, Brian Young, of Altoona, Drew Long and wife, Lori, of Blue Knob, Wendy Gates and husband, Todd, of Saxton and Vicki Woods and friend, Terry Bird, of Hollidaysburg; 13 stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Mabel Rhodes of Duncansville, Rose Straesser of Martinsburg and Marjorie Moon of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister: Gary, Butch, Bud and Mary Guyer.

Dale was a member of Llyswen United Methodist Church, Altoona.

He retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. as bridge superintendent with 40 years of service.

He was a 1954 graduate of Morrison Cove High School.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.

Dale was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed all sports. He loved hunting, fishing, shooting, woodworking, cabinetmaking, sharing stories with friends and helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was a member of the Woodbury Lodge F&AM, Martinsburg Sportmans Club and the NRA; a charter member of the Mosquito Haven Hunting Club; and a life member of the Heidelberg Country Club and Bavarian Aid Society.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, and a funeral service will be held at the convenience of family by the Rev. Charles L. Baughman. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Contributions in Dale's memory may be given to the Llyswen United Methodist Church, 308 Coleridge Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; or the Roaring Spring Community Library, 320 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
