Joseph M. Baum, 31, Cresson, died Tuesday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Cresson, son of Mary E. (Murray) Estep of Cresson and John Baum of Lilly.
Also surviving are a brother, Craig of Cresson; his grandfather, Jack Baum of Cresson; a close family friend and caregiver, Pete Rickens; family caregivers: Aggie Gailey and Toni Hughes; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a half brother and half sister.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sydnie Nicole Estep; his father, Allen Lee Estep; a cousin, Tyler Montgomery; and his grandparents: Leo and Mary Ann Murray, June Baum and Leelan and Aline Estep.
Joseph was a 1999 graduate of Penn Cambria High School, Cresson. He formerly had been employed at Tyco Telecommunications, Baltimore, as a fiber-optic technician. He loved football and was a big Indianapolis Colts fan, and he also liked fast cars, music and the outdoors. He will be missed for his great sense of humor and his kindheartedness.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, the Rev. John D. Byrnes officiating. Committal will be at the church cemetery.
