Michelle Christine (Smith) Bridges, 39, of Huntersville, N.C., and formerly of Tyrone, passed away suddenly after giving birth to her second child, Sydney Michelle on Friday afternoon at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.

Michelle was born in Tyrone to Chris and Colleen Smith.

She is survived by her husband, W. Jeff Bridges; a son, Jackson, a daughter, Sydney; her parents of Tyrone; a sister, Shannon Hess and her husband, Dustin, of Tipton; grandparents, Jack and Mae Myers of Tyrone; and a sister-in-law, Jenni Owensby and her husband, Jason, of Cornelius, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Ethan and Olivia Hess and Ali Owensby; and her most trusted companion, Lizzie Bear.

Michele was a 1991 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1995 graduate of Penn State University, University Park.

She was employed with Gap Inc. for more than 20 years and most recently at Banana Republic at Southpark and Birkdale in the Charlotte area.

Michelle leaves behind family, friends and co-workers much too soon. She also leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, trust and commitment to the many people she touched throughout her life. In her death, she gave her family the most precious gift anyone can leave behind, as her daughter Sydney Michelle was born into this world as she left.

Michelle will be memorialized and remembered by the countless lives she touched during her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, confidant and co-worker.

Friends will be received from 2:30 to the 4 p.m. funeral service today, Nov. 6, 2012, at Davidson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jody Seymour officiating.

Friends in the Tyrone-Altoona area will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona.

Arrangements are by James Funeral Home, Huntersville, N.C.
