Janet M. Ciaverella, 86, Altoona, passed away Sunday at home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Enrico and Filomena (Macera) Prosperi. She married Leonard M. Ciaverella on Nov. 22, 1951, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years; three sons: David M. (Annemarie) of Manassas, Va., Mark A. and partner, Dan, of Arlington, Va., and Brian V. (Chrissy) of Cary, N.C.; four grandchildren: Antonia, Vinny, Dominic and Carli; and a sister, Flora DeGirolomo of Tyrone.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen DiAndrea; and three brothers: Louis, Armand and Guido Prosperi.
Janet was a graduate of Altoona High School, and she enjoyed selling antiques at Water Street and Leighty's Market. She was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or American Diabetes Association.
