Barbara (Hammel) Stiffler

Barbara (Hammel) Stiffler, 73, of Sproul passed away Saturday at Altoona Regional. She was born to the late Elmer and Dorothy (Harker) Hammel.

She married Frederick Stiffler, who preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1993.

Surviving are a son, Kurt Nicodemus and wife, Debbie, of Osterburg; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roger Hammel of Newry and Thomas Hammel of New Enterprise and five sisters: Betty Starnes and husband, Tommy, in South Carolina, Dorothy Claycomb of Imler, Patricia Echard of Lewistown, Judy Clapper and Jean Ake, both of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by three sons: Kenny, Kevin and Kerry Nicodemus.

Barbara was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Boomer, sitting on her front porch and getting visits from the neighborhood kids.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the church with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Leamersville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to her family. Arrangements are by Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
