A couple of thoughts about the World Series:
1. Whatever the penalty is for burning the American flag these days it should be the same for butchering the national anthem as it was before Game 4 on Sunday. I'm in favor of life in prison. How hard can it be to find someone who can sing it with the respect it deserves?
2. I know it's the price to be paid for all of the greed in baseball, but am I the only one who is getting tired of seeing the World Series played and determined in football weather?
I can't believe that Major League Baseball is willing to have its World Series played in horrible weather. Baseball is a spring and summer game, and the World Series should be played in baseball weather. Perhaps they should at least consider playing it in a warm-weather city or someplace with a domed stadium.
I know it's a seven-game series, but football fans travel to the site of the Super Bowl wherever it may be played. I think baseball fans would, too, if they could see the games in comfortable weather.
Perhaps switch cities to an appropriate National League or American League city as the scheduled games dictate in each series.

Penn State loss to OSU will linger for awhile
We all wanted the Nittany Lions to come away with a victory over Ohio State, but an interception at the beginning of the second half broke the camel's back for PSU.
There were other issues, like not making third-down plays, questionable calls by the officials, Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde running through big holes and Ohio State making huge adjustments in that second half.
And, of course. Matt McGloin was not sharp and spent time running for his life after being flushed out of the pocket.
He is an average quarterback who has overachieved.
Penn State was simply outplayed and was worn out. Give credit where credit is due: Urban Meyer is an excellent coach, and he has talented players.
Penn State can still go 9-3 or 8-4. The best thing that is happening is many undergraduate players are getting the opportunity to play and develop.
And Bill O'Brien's year is a growing experience for him and his coaching staff. Be patient.
