SOMERSET - Everett only lost six volleyball matches this season. Unfortunately for the Lady Warriors, three of them were to Chestnut Ridge.
Riding the wave of its passing, the Lady Lions completed the trifecta at the most important time, downing Everett in four games, 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, in the District 5 Class AA semifinals on Thursday night at Somerset Area High School, running their record to 20-0 in the process and earning a berth in the championship against North Star.
The finals will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at a site to be announced.
Sarah Dikum keyed Ridge with 14 kills and 16 service points, while teammate Emily Finnegan chipped in with nine kills and six blocks. Taylor Clingerman added 14 service points.
"Our passing was the key," Ridge coach Tammy Clingerman said. "Every girl had at least four kills. I'm very pleased. Our setters did a good job."
Baylee Beegle and Macey Colledge came up with eight kills apiece to lead Everett. The Lady Warriors finished the season 13-6.
North Star was a 23-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-16 winner against Berlin Brothersvalley in the other 5-AA semi.
