Sherry M. (Forsht) Hammel, 37, McClure, died Wednesday at her residence after a two-year battle with colon cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Joyce (King) Forsht. She married Robert S. Hammel on June 2, 2007.
Surviving are her husband; five children: Matthew, Damian, Billy, Robbie and Larissa at home; a brother, Ronnie Forsht of Williamsport; two sisters: Brandy Ronan and Bonnie Mishock, both of Altoona; and a cousin, Nancy Dunn and husband, Bill.

Sherry was a 1992 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She was employed by Walmart and drove a school van for the Altoona Area School District. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, and a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed spending time with children and was a member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata, by Pastor Elizabeth Hess. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
