Francis D. Harr, 65, Claysburg, died Tuesday morning at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born in Queen, son of the late Albert and Caroline (Walter) Harr. He married Kathleen M. Park on Feb. 23, 1968, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Kimberly L. Imler and husband, John, of Claysburg and Sherry L. Deffibaugh and husband, Wesley, of New Enterprise; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and three siblings: Dean and wife, Mabel, Robert and wife, Deborah, and Marilyn Knisely, all of Claysburg.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Francis Christian Deffibaugh and Hunter Lee Deffibaugh; and a brother, Albert Jr.
Francis worked at General Refractories, Claysburg, from 1970-82, and he also worked for several logging companies, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, raising animals, riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was a member of the Beaverdam Rod and Gun Club.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, by Pastor Joseph Furry. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in Francis' memory may be given to the American Cancer Society or Nason Home Health Hospice.
