Limit truck traffic on Frankstown Road

October 31, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

Frankstown Road is a narrow, two-lane road through a residential area, which in my opinion should be - with the exception of local traffic - not used by large trucks.

The trucks only make an already dangerous road more so. After all, we have Interstate 99, which was built to speed traffic through our area and is avoided by large trucks.

They use Frankstown Road as a shortcut. I also think Frankstown Road is used to avoid PennDOT inspections on the main road because of the inconvenience to the truckers.

This might allow them to avoid the detection of safety issues and weight restrictions, which makes the use of Frankstown Road even more dangerous.

Lawmakers should consider bans to avoid a major accident from happening.
