Altoona and Hollidaysburg were awarded 16th seeds in the upcoming WPIAL playoffs on Monday's meeting in Green Tree and will have to take on the No. 1 teams in their respective classifications when they kick off the postseason.
The Mountain Lions and Golden Tigers will both be action on Friday night at 7:30 p.m..
The Mountain Lions, who got the wild-card slot in Class AAAA with a 4-5 record, will travel to Wexford to face defending champion North Allegheny. Altoona split a recent series with the Tigers in 2008 and 2009, each winning at home.
North Allegheny enters the playoffs with a 9-0 mark. Altoona is in the postseason for the first time since 2007.
Hollidaysburg gets a rematch against Thomas Jefferson in the first round of Class AAA action -- the Jaguars crushed the Golden Tigers, 55-0, on Sept. 14 in Jefferson Hills on its way to a perfect regular season. Hollidaysburg is 3-6.
The Tigers are making their second WPIAL playoff appearance, losing at Mars two years ago.
All four WPIAL championship games will be played on Nov. 23 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field.
