Dorothy (Burd) Fair, 98, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William H. and Eleanor (Campbell) Burd. She was the wife of the late Phillip W. Fair, a former staff member of the Altoona Mirror Editorial Department, who died in 1986.
Surviving are a son, Phillip W. and wife, Loretta, of Bethlehem; two daughters: Mary Auker of Bethlehem and Eleanor Reinhardt and husband, Donald, of Plymouth, Mass.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Frazier of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Burd; and a sister, Eleanor Dilworth.
Dorothy was a graduate of Altoona High School and Oberlin College. She taught preschool and primary school in Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, retiring after 23 years of teaching the first grade in the Altoona Area School District.
Dorothy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, Bethlehem Garden Club and American Association of University Women and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Westminster Village.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem.
Arrangements are by Pearson Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
