In advance of Hurricane Sandy, the National Weather Service in State College has issued flood and high wind watches for the Mirror coverage area.
The flood watch is in effect late Sunday night through Tuesday evening. Three to 5 inches of rain are possible with locally higher amounts of 6 inches or more.
The high wind watch is in effect for Monday morning through Tuesday evening with north winds 25 to 35 mph and gusts over 60 mph.
Power outages, which may be of long duration, are possible from numerous downed trees and branches, the weather service said.
