Regina R. "Gina" Talerico, 59, Altoona, passed away Tuesday after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was born in Johnstown, daughter of Frances Ann (Chiappini) Smidga and the late William Smidga.

Surviving are her fiance, Wil Wilkins of Altoona; her mother of Nanty Glo; two children: Rochelle (Jason Bumberger) and Joseph Jr. (Trisha Gabella), both of Altoona; two grandchildren: Jacob and Allyssa; five siblings: Richard (Georgeanne) Smidga of Ravenna, Ohio, Mary Ann Litzinger of Nanty Glo, Michael Smidga of Altoona, Paula (Tom) McCain of Oil City and Lisa (Doug) Haney of Nanty Glo; a special brother-in-law, Ken "Case" McCormick; as well as many special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia.

Gina was a 1971 graduate of Blacklick High School. She enjoyed doing crafts and participating in many craft shows throughout Pennsylvania, where she met many people.

Gina loved spending time with her family and was most happy when she was with them, especially Jacob and Allyssa. Gina cherished every moment they had together. Her amazing attributes included her willingness to help others and never wanting anything in return. She had a kind, loving and forgiving heart and a great personality.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 6 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Pastor Rod Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery at the family's convenience.
