Barbara J. Mickel, 74, passed away Monday in Temple, Texas.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ralph and Jean Oakes. She married James Mickel in 1970.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Todd of Altoona; two daughters: Dawn Mancine of Harker Heights, Texas, and Kellie Welsh and husband, Jeff, of Killeen, Texas; five grandchildren: Chad, Dustin, Ashley, Shaylee and Makenzee; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Donald, Ronald and James Oakes; a sister, Cathy Jill Oakes of Roaring Spring; and numerous aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Burket; and a brother, William Oakes.
Barbara enjoyed gambling, watching wrestling and shopping, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, Texas, with burial to follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
