Elaine Doughty, 87, formerly of Ashville, died Monday at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg.
She was born in Mark Hanna, daughter of the late Homer and Elva (Litzinger) Grimes.
Surviving are 10 children: Robert (Linda) and William (Roxanne), both of Altoona, Joseph (Mary Ann) and Thomas (Mary Ann), both of Ashville, Rita Knee (Jim Shank) of Carrolltown, Betty Eckenrode (Buck) of Munster, Leo (Shirl), Barbara Delozier (Joe) and Dennis (Kriss), all of Patton, and Paul (Missy) of Cresson; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Flo Doughty of Patton and Maxine Doughty of Altoona; a son-in-law, J.L. Knee of Gallitzin; three siblings: Jack (Betty) of Buffalo, N.Y., Melvin (Betty) of Ashville and Joan Kowalski of Gallitzin; a sister-in-law, Theresa Grimes of Mark Hanna; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Rose DiVittorio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kimmo, on Oct. 9, 1987; a son, Charles; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Hayden and Elliott; and a sister, Joyce Hricko.
Elaine was a member of Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she held numerous offices, and a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, the Rev. Sean Code as celebrant. Committal will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society in Elaine's memory.
