I've often heard it said as I travel statewide that Blair County voters would elect Donald Duck if he had an "R" beside his name.
On Nov. 6, we'll have a chance to see if this reputation is deserved.
The choice in the 79th District race for the state House could not be clearer. Richard Flarend is a family-oriented, moderate, common-sense individual who has demonstrated an incredible work ethic over the course of his campaign and a dedication to volunteer work and community service in the years he has called Altoona his home. John McGinnis promotes the dismantling of public education, the legalization of drugs and the defunding of basic city services.
It's time to see if voters in Blair County truly put the person before the party.
