Martha E. Mallam, 95, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday at the home after an extended illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Roy L. and Helen G. (Rigg) Calvert. She married John H. Mallam, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane L. Gable of Altoona; four grandchildren: Julie Auker Blas (Michael) of Raleigh, N.C., Carolyn Auker Kilgore (Matthew) of Wilmington, Del., Elizabeth Gable and husband, Matthew Gavejian, of New York City and Sara Gable of New York City; two great-grandchildren: Nora and Theo Gavejian; and two brothers: Ralph B. Calvert of Ocala, Fla., and Roy L. Calvert Jr. of Downers Grove, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara A. Auker; and a brother, Willard Rigg Calvert Sr.
Martha was a 1935 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1937 graduate of Altoona School of Commerce. She retired in 1977 as a secretary from Beasley Motors after 19 years of service. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she was a former member of the Vestry and Altar Guild and a Sunday school teacher.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church by the Rev. Fred Miller and the Rev. Jack Hoffer, homilist. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church for accommodation of people with disabilities.
