William A. Eardley, 86, Altoona, died Monday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ben R. and Edna M. (Gore) Eardley. He married Anna O. Duvall in 1947 in Altoona, and she died in 2002 after 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Linda Miller and husband, William, in Missouri and Gretchen Eardley of Altoona; a son, Bruce W. and wife, Vicki, of Westover; five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Bruce "Bucky," Amy, George and Rachel; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben R. of Vancouver, British Columbia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Lane.
William was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the 28th Division Band, U.S. Army, during WWII. He retired from Conrail after 44 years of service as an electrician. He was a life member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where he was a member of the choir. He also attended Asbury United Methodist Church, Altoona.
William was also a member of the Allegheny Mountain Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, where he was a past president, a member of Mountain Lodge 281, F&AM, and a member of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Harp Society.
He enjoyed music, antique cars and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Altoona, the Rev. Fred Miller officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
