Athlete of the week achievement: Kirsch won the District 6 Class AA individual championship for the second straight year and also helped Central Cambria win the team title. Two days later, Kirsch had the Red Devils' top score in a regional victory over Conemaugh Township that got Central Cambria into the state finals.

Season update: Kirsch has a scoring average of 72.4.

Coach Tom Aurandt's quote: "I thought it was an excellent performance. I think the sub-regional ... he was not on top of his game and part of that was we had played three matches in four days. The weather was pretty lousy, too but Max, being Max, he stepped up and played better than anyone else. I think he was also emotionally drained from the district meet, too. He did a phenomenal job."
