Harold G. "Pappy" Stitt, 91, Altoona, died Wednesday evening at Valley View Home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John W. and Mary Alice (Kemberling) Stitt. He married Genevieve A. Kehoe on June 9, 1942, in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Harold W. and wife, Virginia, of Huntsville, Ala., and Dennis G. and wife, Josephine, of Altoona; a daughter, Judith E. Cardone and husband, Gregory, of Pinellas Park, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Millard, Ralph, Melvin, Roy, Merle, Paul and Walter; and three sisters: Elizabeth, Evelyn Gibboney and Esther Ellis.
Harold was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired as an locomotive engineer from Conrail in February 1982 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, the Rev. Dave Huston officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
