On Thursday, Oct. 4, the rear tire on my pickup truck shredded, and I wound up on the berm of I-99.
Not five minutes went by when a state trooper pulled in behind me and offered assistance, as well as protection from the oncoming traffic.
The trooper put his lights on, and I managed to change my tire without the fear of being run over by a distracted motorist.
Thirty-five minutes later, I was on my way home. The trooper did not have to stop, but I sure am thankful that he did. It was nice to know that I was not there alone.
I would like to thank all state troopers for their dedication to public service, at times paying the ultimate price. The community and your neighbors have your full support.
