Hollidaysburg runs by Rams, Wildcats

HOLLIDAYSBURG - The Hollidaysburg boys and girls cross country teams both improved to 5-3 Tuesday afternoon, thanks to wins over both Penns Valley and Central Mountain.

Emily Ansley won the girls race for Hollidaysburg, which beat the Lady Rams (20-39) and the Lady Wildcats (22-37). The Tiger boys won 26-30 over the Rams and 20-36 over the Wildcats. The top Tiger runner was Brad Baronner, who took second in 18:59.

Central rolls past Ridge

MARTINSBURG - Despite a first-place finish from Chestnut Ridge's Kimmy Bischoff, the Central girls beat the Lady Lions, 15-50.

Central's top runner, Jenna Gunnett, took third in 24:11. Northern Bedford's Brianna Leidy ran independently and took second in 23:11.

The Ridge boys won 18-42 over the Dragons. Williamsburg's Bryce England won the race in 17:34 running as an independent. Ridge's Jim Farnan took second (18:09), while Central's top runner was Andrew Brumbaugh in 19:49.

Tyrone sweeps B-A, WB

BELLWOOD - Tyrone defeated West Branch and Bellwood-Antis in both boys and girls action.

The Warriors topped the Blue Devils, 21-34, in boys competition and 20-39 in girls in both girls.

The Golden Eagle boys, led by Rhett Everhart's second-place finish in 18:17, topped Bellwood, 21-37, and West Branch, 27-30.

Tyrone's girls won both matches and also had an individual champion in Jordan Wiser, who ran the course in 21:16. The Lady Eagles topped Bellwood, 18-37, and West Branch, 24-31. Issac Mills and April Taylor were Bellwood's top finishers.

Altoona boys, girls fall

William Cather and Kyle Adams' top three finishes propelled State College as it ran past Altoona, 26-29, at the Logan Elementary course.

Cather finished in first with a time of 16:47, while Adams came in third at 17:03. Dominic Stroh finished in second place for Altoona, running in 16:56.

The State College girls also defeated Altoona, 23-34, capturing the top three spots in the meet. Altoona's Morgan Pensyl finished fourth in 21:02.
