Unbeaten Penn Cambria sweeps Johnstown

CRESSON - Karissa Buzzella had 13 service points, and Liz Gawel added 10 as Penn Cambria defeated Johnstown, 25-14, 25-18, 25-8, in high school girls volleyball Monday.

Kelly Yusko recorded 29 assists and nine digs, Taylor Freeman had 13 kills and nine digs and Tori Shingler had 13 kills and five blocks for the Lady Panthers, who improved to 13-0.

NBC outlasts Claysburg

CLAYSBURG - Northern Bedford defeated Claysburg-Kimmel, 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 20-25, 15-11.

Lauren Eckenroad had 18 service points for the winners, while teammates Cierra Cottle and Krista Burket each added 11 more. Cottle also had 22 kills to go with 35 digs from Eckenroad and 24 assists from Burket.

Kara Snyder led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 service points, six blocks, five kills and four digs to go with eight blocks and six kills from Morgan Malovich. Emily Weiland added 11 service points.

EBENSBURG - Bedford defeated Central Cambria 25-20, 25-22, 25-15, dropping the Lady Red Devils mark to 3-7.

Farah Hansen and Samantha Elkin each had nine service points for Central Cambria, while Elkin added 15 digs.

Lady Dragons spike BEA

Tessa Shaw had 13 service points, 12 kills, nine digs and eight aces to lead the winners, who also got 11 kills and four blocks from Laura Ritchey. Megan Hauser contributed 25 assists.

Bishop Guilfoyle got strong contributions from a variety of players in a 27-25, 21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 17-15 Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference win over visiting Somerset.

Logan McIntosh had 15 service points and 35 digs, while Rachel Potopa logged 10 service points, 43 assists, and 12 digs for BG (10-2 overall, 9-2 in the conference). Annie Dombrowski scored 16 digs and 14 kills, while Lindsey Welteroth and Jennifer Patterson had 14 and 11 kills, respectively.

Janelle Gueguen scored 39 assists for Carroll, which improved to 9-3 overall and 9-2 in the conference.

PATTON - Westmont Hilltop beat Cambria Heights, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.

Heights was led by Jamie Snedden (seven service points. Westmont was led by Alyssa Miller (13 kills), Brianna Trentini (nine digs) and Erin Rogers 32 assists.
