Samuel W. Patterson, 87, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday in Frederick, Md.
He was born in Alexandria, son of the late Samuel and Mary Catherine (Winters) Patterson. He married D. Eleanor Berkheimer on Dec. 31, 1946, in Alexandria, and she died in 2010.
Surviving are two daughters: Donna Jean Meyers and husband, Thomas, in South Carolina and Donna Kay Hammel in Maryland; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Brooks of Altoona and Jean Myers of Alexandria; and two brothers: William and James, both of Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Stacey Ann Myers; and a son-in-law, Roy Hammel, in 2008.
Samuel was a 1943 graduate of Alexandria High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and retired from SKF, Altoona. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a former member of the Chimrock Squares dance group.
Samuel enjoyed woodworking, farming and hunting.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
