Betty J. Mater Durst, 81, of 920 West Fourth Street, Lewistown, died Saturday morning at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Henry D. and Ethel M. (Liddick) Leidy.

Surviving are two sons: Kevin L. Mater and wife, Jeanette, of Carlisle and Robert K. "Kelly" Mater and wife, Carol, of Lewistown; five stepchildren: John K. Durst Jr. and wife, Thaila, of Belleville, Harry Steven Durst and wife, Kathleen, of Thompsontown, Daniel Durst and wife, Deborah, of Belleville, Michael A. Durst and wife, Sherri, of Lewistown and Laurie J. Durst Kozak and husband, Todd, of Lewistown; three grandchildren: Jerret R. Mater, Jeanette R. Kocan and husband, Matthew and Alan R. Mater; 12 stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth E. Leidy of Altoona; and her stepsister, Linda C. Eckley of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard L. Mater on March 29, 1973; and her second husband, John K. Durst Sr. on Sept. 8, 2010.

Betty was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School. She worked part-time at the Baltimore Life Insurance Company in Lewistown and later as a clerk-typist at K.B. Aero-tech for 21 years.

She attended Evangel Baptist Church in Lewistown, where she was a member of the Evangelders. She was a member of the Juniata County Quilting Guild. Early in life, Betty was a 4-H seamstress instructor and was a creative and skilled seamstress.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, with Pastor Edward Kauffman officiating.

Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park, Tipton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory can be made to Evangel Baptist Church, 375 West Fifth Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
