Gordon A. Douglas

Gordon A. Douglas, 82, Altoona, formerly of State College, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Boalsburg, son of the late Gordon L. and Katherine (Smith) Douglas. He married Louise Bohn in June 1951 in State College.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years; a daughter, Cherie L. Bartos and husband, Michael, in Virginia; a son, Steven W. and wife, Alicia, in Virginia; three grandchildren: Breanna, Savanna and Christopher; and a sister, Patricia Albright of Boalsburg.

Mr. Douglas was a 1948 graduate of State College High School. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving from 1946-1949 and received the WWII Victory Medal. He retired from State College High School after more than 14 years as a bus driver. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Boalsburg and was a 32nd degree Mason at the Valley of Williamsport.

Gordon enjoyed flying as a private pilot for more than 30 years and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Interment will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
