Francis J. "Frank" Polito, 69, Altoona, died Saturday morning at Bellmeade Manor.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Michael and Emma (DeLeo) Polito. He married Elizabeth A. Neugebauer on Oct. 3, 1970, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; two sons: Mark A. Polito of Altoona and Matthew T. Polito of Chambersburg; two grandsons: Isom Noel Polito and Derick Clark Polito, both of Chambersburg; a brother, Anthony Polito and wife, Margaret, of Pittsburgh; a sister, Carol Hooper and husband, Kenneth, of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Father Robert Neugebauer; and a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Gulden.
Mr. Polito was a 1961 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and had attended Point Park College in Pittsburgh. He was a U.S Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. He retired as a journalist from the Altoona Mirror in 2009 after more than forty years of service.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona and Knights of Columbus.
Frank was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers. He also enjoyed covering a variety of local high school football games each week.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil service for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, with Monsignor Timothy Stein as celebrant.
Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
