John W. Stahl, 83, formerly of Altoona, was reunited with his Lord early Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012.
He was born in Altoona, son of Warren J. and Edna (Swope) Stahl. He married Alice Rooney on June 21, 1952, and moved to Miami, Fla.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Rooney Stahl; three daughters: Susan (Bob) Cuckler of Homestead, Fla., Sally Stahl of Lake Placid, Fla., and Joni (Marc) Beugnot of Davie, Fla.; two grandchildren: Megan and Kyle Beugnot of Davie, Fla.; four siblings: Louis (Joyce) Stahl, Mary Mann, Winifred (Walt) Smith and Linda (John) Rudasill; and many nieces and nephews.
John earned an associate degree from Miami Dade College in 1978. He was employed in the aviation industry for 34 years, including employment with National and Pan Am Airlines. He retired from Pan Am as a supervisor in 1991. John moved to Lake Placid, Fla., and was active at First Presbyterian Church as a deacon and elder.
He enjoyed hunting, waterskiing and travel.
A funeral service was held Sept. 26, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid, Fla.
