Marauders go 1-1 in home twinbill

Bishop Guilfoyle split a doubleheader match against United, losing the first game, 7-6 in double overtime, and winning the second, 3-2, in high school boys soccer Thursday at Tom Irwin Field.

In the first game, Andrew Logue scored three goals for Bishop Guilfoyle, but the Marauders still lost.

Brendan Trybus, Mikkel Bonde and Justin Kirkland each scored a goal for Bishop Guilfoyle.

Ron Luker scored two of United's goals. John Nau scored the winning goal in double overtime.

In the second game, Jake Barnes scored the winning goal for the Marauders with less than three minutes left in the first half. Peter Sirek and Kylor Kiesewetter each scored as well.

Ron Luker and Jake Beaker scored for United.

Bishop Guilfoyle is now 2-8.

ROARING SPRING - Joey Smith and Rudolfo Santos each scored for Spring Cove in its 2-2 tie against Hollidaysburg.

Spring Cove is now 6-1-1.

Cove girls roll to win

ROARING SPRING - Olivia Smith scored four consecutive goals in the first half as Spring Cove blanked Hollidaysburg, 7-0. Blair Miller was the goalie for Spring Cove (6-3-1).

Lady Lion juniors tie

Altoona and Mount Nittany played to a 0-0 tie in junior high girls action at Roosevelt Field. Goalkeeper Jen Worley made 13 saves for Altoona, which is 8-3-1.
