John David "Jack" Lightner, 64, Bowie, Md., was called home to the Lord on Sept. 24, 2012, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. He was at home surrounded by his children, sisters and friends.
He was born in Canan Station.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Meyer); two daughters: Paige and Erin; five siblings: Charles "Tim," James (Emelia), Joseph, Charlene (Bart) Eckenrode and Maggie (Joe) Smith; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna B. (Grove) Lightner; a sister, Robin Fagan; and a sister-in-law, Hazel "Sis."
Jack was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Haverford Homes as a production manager. For Jack's years of dedication and service in the development of his housing community, a road has been named in his honor.
Jack will be best remembered for his contagious smile, endless energy and insatiable kindness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jack's new life at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, when a memorial and luncheon will be held at Laurel Lodge at Hemlock Estates, 2319 Sugar Run Road, Duncansville.
