TYRONE - Jordan Kirsch shot a 69 on Tuesday at the District 6 Class AAA Qualifier held at Sinking Valley Country Club, which helped the Hollidaysburg boys golf team advance to the District 6 Class AAA championships next week.
Kirsch was the top golfer on Tuesday to advance to the individual championships, which will also be held next week, Oct. 9 and 10, at the Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg.
The Tigers shot a 314 as a team to finish second to State College, which finished first at 312. Finishing behind Kirsch were Nolan Robbins (79), Hunter Shields (81), Grant Delozier (83), Jerome Landry (85) and David Snyder (85). Robbins, who finished sixth, also qualified for the championships, as did Shields, who finished tied for ninth.
State College's Ben Gelenberg led his team with a 74.
Altoona qualified one of its golfers - Trentin Martin - who led the Mountain Lions with a 78. As a team, the Mountain Lions finished fifth out of the seven teams.
