October 3, 2012
From Mirror staff reports

A motorist who stopped to help a woman who had wrecked along Sugar Run Road was struck by a third vehicle that skidded on the wet roadway Tuesday evening, Allegheny Township police said.

Joshua Madison of Summerhill refused treatment and transportation at the scene of the two accidents that began when Joni Adams of Cresson lost control of her vehicle while traveling in the westbound lane on Sugar Run Road. The vehicle traveled down an embankment, hit a rock, flipped and came to rest on its wheels.

Adams was transported to Altoona Regional for injuries of an unknown severity, police said.

A motorist stopping to help a woman involved in this two-car crash along Sugar Run Road was struck by a third vehicle Tuesday evening.

Madison came upon the initial crash and stopped to help, police said. He called 911, and while placing the call a vehicle driven by Ashleigh Williamson of Ebensburg, also traveling westbound came upon the crash. Williamson hit the brakes, skidded on the wet roadway and lost control of the vehicle.

Her vehicle struck Madison and also went over the embankment.

Madison sustained injuries to his leg or legs, possibly his back and his head, police said.

Allegheny Township Fire Department, Duncansville EMS and Hollidaysburg Ambulance also responded to the scene.
