Dennis was the youngest brother of and is survived by Mary Ann Charneski and husband, Vernon, John and wife, Harriet (Ford), Frank and wife, Joan (Gahagen), Marge Plowchin and husband, George, Edward and fiancee, Elaine Lenz, and Cathy.
He also is survived by his uncle, Joe Strihan, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his dog, Gracie, who was his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Veronica and John Strihan; and a niece, Kelly Plowchin.
Dennis was the joy of our life, and we will forever be thankful that God gave us this time to share with him. His family, his friends at Skills of Central Pennsylvania Inc. and his animals were always at the center of Dennis' heart, and he especially enjoyed going to the Cambria County Fair each fall. He shared a Skills group home in Cresson and prior to that had resided at the Ebensburg Center. He kept his family and friends up-to-date on the weather and the daily lottery numbers and especially enjoyed having dinner at Red Lobster and catching the "big fish" in Bakerton.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, 710 Broad St., Johnstown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Resurrection Parish, Chestnut Street, Johnstown, Father Alan Thomas officiating. Committal will be at St. Stephen's Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial donations be directed to The Skills Foundation, 341 Science Park Road, Suite 6, State College, PA 16803, in memory of Dennis.
