John L. Johnson, 75, Altoona, died Friday afternoon at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., son of the late Charlie and Sallie (Powell) Johnson.

Surviving are a sister, Barbara Ann Johnson of Altoona; nieces and nephews: the Rev. Henry P. Hansard Jr. and wife, Becky, Mark Johnson and wife, Patti, Randy Hansard, Tonya Hansard-Haralson and Inetta Hansard; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William R. "Boots" and Robert "Bob"; and three sisters: Rebecca "Peaches" Johnson, Clara J. Hansard and an infant sister.
John was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading and was an avid artist.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Stevens Memorial Chapel, The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
