Twila S. (Stiffler) Tillette, 75, Altoona, died Monday morning at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Canoe Creek, daughter of Lewis A. and Mary M. (Johnston) Stiffler. She married Fred Tillette on Sept. 12, 1987, in Atlanta, Ga., and he died Nov. 3, 1998.
Surviving are two stepdaughters: Judy Guven and Leann Smith, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-granddaughter, Ashley Guven; a nephew, Alan Johnson of Hollidaysburg; and a niece, DeAnn Cherry of Hollidaysburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mona L. Johnson, on June 6, 1993.
Twila was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She then graduated from Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and Harrisburg Hospital School of Anesthetics in 1962. She retired in 2003 after 40 years of service from Emory Healthcare, Atlanta, Ga., as a nurse anesthetist.
Twila was a member of Juniata Valley Gospel Church and also belonged to the American Association of Nurse Arts, Georgia Association and Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Alumni Association of Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and Hollidaysburg Area High School Alumni Association.
She enjoyed music, playing piano, crocheting, knitting, games and reading.
There will be no viewing. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family by Pastor D. David McCaulley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emory University Hospital, Department of Anesthesiology, 1364 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30322; Juniata Valley Gospel Church; or a charity of your choice.
