Joyce T. Phillips, 77, Tyrone, died Wednesday afternoon at Altoona Regional.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Forrest and Eulala (Halbritter) Taylor. She married Harold R. "Dick" Phillips on Aug. 17, 1955, and he preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1999.

Surviving are two sons: James R. (Dawn) and William S. (Cheryl), both of Tyrone; a grandson, Devin; eight siblings: Connie Champion of Gastonia, N.C., Margaret (Richard) Burns of River Road, Tipton, Cindy Zindel in Florida, Mary Ann (Larry) Russell in Ohio, Virginia (Tom) Graves of New Holland, Jerry and John Taylor, both of Tyrone, and Charles (Kathleen) Taylor of Tipton; and two sisters-in-law: Bella Bonsell of Thomastown and Mary Louise (David) Adler of Tyrone.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James.

Joyce was a 1953 graduate of Bellwood High School. She had been employed as an accountant/bookkeeper at Lugg and Edmonds prior to establishing her real estate business. She was a licensed real estate broker and since 1977 was the owner of the Joyce T. Phillips Real Estate Agency, retiring in 2005.

Joyce was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors and served on the Epworth Manor Advisory Board and the board of the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce. She loved to travel and enjoyed her grandson, Devin.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at First English Lutheran Church, Pastor Susan Yatta officiating. Private interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park.
