Richard M. Elliott, 87, Altoona, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died Thursday evening at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of Fay and Ida (Lingenfelter) Elliott. He married Donna L. Bowser on Feb. 10, 1950, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Paul (Patty) and Richard M. Jr. (Debbie), both of Altoona; a daughter, Marcy Kleiner (Stephen) of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Clerkin, on Feb. 26, 2008.
Richard was a 1943 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from the A&P warehouse as a produce selector in 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, and also belonged to the Hollidaysburg American Legion and Juniata Lodge, F&AM.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and had served as park manager for Legion Park, Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, by Pastor Dennis Derr. Interment will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, with military honors.
