Joel C. Muldoon, 57, Portage, formerly of Lilly, passed away Wednesday at home.
He was the son of the late James and Virginia (Chrisko) Muldoon.
Surviving are his wife, Susan (Leap); nine siblings: JoAnn Ference and husband, Steve, of Pittsburgh, Paul and wife, Josephine (Santora), of Hartford, Ala., Doreen Bowser of Shermans Dale, Priscilla Sommers and husband, Tom, of Camp Hill, Tricia Hepner of Lilly, Ronald and wife, Judith (Daley), of Lilly, Maureen Snyder and husband, Eugene, of Jessup, Md., Maura Beckman and husband, Bruce, of Downers Grove, Ill., and John (his twin) of Lilly; 21 nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and great-nephews; and his parents-in-law, Robert and Barbara Leap.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James.
Joel served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973-77 and was employed as a prison guard at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon. He was a member of Lilly Polish National Alliance, Slavish Citizens Club, American Legion and Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the funeral home, Monsignor John R. Sasway officiating. Committal will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Lilly, with military graveside honors provided by the Lilly American Legion and Lilly VFW.
