Robert H. Matthews, 84, Glasgow, died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born in Glasgow, son of the late Robert D. and Minta E. (McGarvey) Matthews. He married Elizabeth Jane Williams on Nov. 28, 1955, in Coalport.
Surviving are his wife; and five children and eight grandchildren: Robert C. and wife, Deb Gabrielson, of Glasgow and their daughters, Nicole and Kate, Sherry J. Brako of Point of Rocks, Md., and her son, Jeb, Deborah A. Baker and husband, Mike, of Frederick, Md., and their daughter Jessica, Susan M. Hill of Frederick, Md., and her daughter, Megan, and Michelle L. Mulhollen of Glasgow and her children, Derek Matthews and Luke and Lexi Mulhollen.

Robert was a 1946 graduate of Reade Township High School. He had attended Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Glasgow, and was a member of Coalport Lodge 574, F&AM, and Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. He was self-employed in various enterprises and was a former board member at Glendale School District and Reade Township Municipal Authority as well as being secretary/treasurer of Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, the Rev. Edwin Hollen officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
