John E. Mowery, 56, Manchester, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital, York.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Spangle) Mowery. He married Kim R. Davis.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years; two sons: John E. II and wife, Jessica, and Kris L. and wife, Sara, all of York; a granddaughter, Abigail Mowery; four sisters: Catherine Zeth and husband, Rodger, of Duncansville, Della Elam and husband, Harry, of Corolla, N.C., Anna Dively and husband, Fred, of Hollidaysburg and Lori Mathews and husband, Tom, of Altoona; a brother, George of Carson Valley; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth L. Davis and wife, Charlene, of Altoona and Kirk I. Davis and wife, Barbara, of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Mowery.
John enjoyed hunting, golf and grilling for his family.
The family will host a celebration of life gathering from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the home of Kim Mowery, 60 Beechwood Drive, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kim R. Mowery, 60 Beechwood Drive, Manchester, PA 17345.
