McCabe edges Pearson in ICC?playoff

TYRONE - Mount Union took first place at the Inter-County Conference golf meet with a score of 353, defeating Northern Bedford (358), Bellwood-Antis (377) and Everett (402) Monday at Sinking Valley.

Northern Bedford's J.J. McCabe was the medalist with a 79, beating Bellwood-Antis' Jake Pearson's (79) in a playoff match. Kyle Walters shot an 84 for Everett.

Alex Ashman carded an 82 for Mount Union, followed by teammate Brady Goodling with an 86.

NORTHERN BEDFORD (358): McCabe 79, Frederick 87, Kaminsky 94, England 98.

Red Devils finish second

JOHNSTOWN - The Central Cambria golf team finished second on Monday at the Wheeling Interscholastic Golf Tournament held at Sunnehanna Country Club.

There were 17 teams competing in the event that was won by State College. Max Kirsch led Central Cambria, finishing second with a 151 (76-75). Richland's Brady Moran won the event with a 150 (76-74).

Hollidaysburg's Jordan Kirsch tied for second, finishing with a 151 (77-74). The only other local golfer to finish in the top 10 was Tyrone's Greg Ferguson, who placed seventh at 156 (79-77).

Altoona's Andrew Burlingame led the Mountain Lions with a 181, while Bedford's Kevin McDaniel topped the Bisons with a 167. Matt Dillon shot a 175 for Central, while Tyler Tiesi shot a 187 for Northern Cambria.

Prisk, Dobson win at PCC

PHILIPSBURG - John Prisk and Chris Dobson won first place, with a 70, in the Net Divison of the Birdies-Strikes & Bogeys-Splits tournament at Philipsburg Country Club.

Bob Hummel and Craig Livergood finished in second, while Giels Lanager and John DeCarli came in third.

Prisk and Dobson also captured first in the team overall standings, with Hummel and Livergood again coming in second. The third place team was made of Larry Batterson and B.J. Batterson who also captured first place in the Bowling series. Hummel and Livergood came in second in the Bowling Series, while Prisk and Dobson came in third.

In the Parent-Child tournament, Bo Sankey and Trevin Hampton grabbed first place in the open divison, with a score of 73. The Adult-Child divison was won by Bob and April Adams, as they finished with a 71.

The team of Cheryl Anderson and Chris Fox shot a 75, tying for second place with the combination of Drew and Katie Tocimak.

The child divison was won by Andy and Andrew Reifer, who had a 71. Jason and Abby Vaux tied for second with Al and Jarrod Anderson, as both teams finished with a 73.
