HOLLIDAYSBURG - The Hollidaysburg Area YMCA will kick off its "Strong Kids Annual Campaign" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the YMCA.
This year, the YMCA hopes to raise $100,000 in honor of its 100th anniversary. Funds raised will provide program support and financial assistance to families who need it in the community.
Last year, financial support made it possible for 513 kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; for 398 families to reconnect and grow together; and gave 834 people access to education and training to reach their full potential, the Y said.
"We all need the Y because our organization works every day to nurture the potential of kids, improve health and well-being and help neighbors support one another," said Cullen Sheehan, campaign co-chairman, in a statement. "With our community support campaign, we want more people to understand that we are more than where to go to exercise or swim - and that we rely on your financial support to do our vital work."
The YMCA's annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the campaign kickoff.
