Dorothy E. "Dottie" Wineland, 71, Roaring Spring, died peacefully at her home Wednesday afternoon.
She was born in Prospect Park, daughter of the late Charles B. and Martha E. (Lynch) Lawton. She married Archie D. Wineland on June 28, 1969, and settled in Roaring Spring.
Surviving are her husband; four sons: Mark E. Wineland of Wilmington, Del., Michael Simpson and wife, Brenda, of Saxton, Daniel Simpson and wife, Susan, of Altoona and Corey Simpson of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Stacy Edmondson and husband, Jim, of Newark, Del.; 10 grandchildren: Eric, Jessica, Amanda, Felicia, Sarah, Aline, Jamie and Mira Simpson, Ashley Wineland and Cassidy Aja Edmondson; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: retired Col. Joseph Newsome and wife, Mary Anne, of Boiling Springs and Bruce Galloway and wife, Debra, of New Castle, Del.; two sisters: Janet Pauley and husband, Royce, and Deborah Tyler and husband, Wayne, all in Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dottie was a 1959 graduate of William Penn High School, New Castle, Del., and attended the University of Delaware. She continued ever to pursue her love of music, poetry, the beauty of nature and people. She was a member of Christ Church, Roaring Spring, and her passion remains Jesus Christ and his Church. She also belonged to Altoona Johnstown Tres Dias.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Christ Church, Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, by Pastor Joel Kletzing. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dottie's memory may be given to Christ Church.
