Alleged victim testifies in child rape case

September 19, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

BEDFORD -- A traveling preacher's Bedford County child rape trial opened to graphic testimony Wednesday morning from his alleged 11-year-old victim, now 15.

The Rev. Walter Bradshaw, 63, of Lexington, N.C., listened with an earpiece as the alleged victim recounted a 2009 sexual encounter in the Janey Lynn Motel in Bedford Township.

Bedford County Judge Thomas Ling sent the jury away repeatedly to referee attorneys' disputes throughout the more than two hours of testimony.

Ling at one point threatened defense attorney Thomas Crawford with a fine for repeatedly asking unacceptable questions.

The alleged victim will retake the stand after the lunch break.

A complete story will appear in Thursday's Mirror.
