Joseph E. Schenk, 88, Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, formerly of Loretto, died Monday. He was born in Loretto, son of Valentine and Ethel (Felix) Schenk. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings: John, Bernard, Sister Anna, Marie Voss, Father Demetrius, T.O.R., Charles, Faber and Mary Elizabeth. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. Arrangements are by Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville.
