Robert Roy Pheasant, 79, rural Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg, after a lengthy illness.

He was born near Williamsburg, son of the late Homer F. and Cora B. (Brumbaugh) Pheasant. He married Luella G. Detwiler on Sept. 21, 1951, at Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of almost 61 years; four brothers: Marion of Eden, N.Y., Gerald of Chambersburg, Paul of Forsyth, Mo., and the Rev. Clayton of Alexandria; two sisters: Thelma McCall of rural Williamsburg and Jane Shreiner of Lititz; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Russell; and a brother, Phillip E. Pheasant.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.

He retired as a dairy farmer along Clover Creek in 1990 after 28 years, and also was formerly employed at Barker's Feed Mill, Williamsburg, and as a truck driver for P. E. Kramme Hauling, Everett, for seven years.

Bob was a lifelong member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon for over 30 years. He also served as a director and secretary/treasurer for Shellytown Fairview Cemetery Association for many years.

He was a former member and past president of Blair County Holstein Club, a former member of Pennsylvania Farmer's Association, and longtime director and past president of Williamsburg Farm Show Association, and served for many years as a Woodbury Township supervisor until 2009.

Bob especially enjoyed farming and the outdoors.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, and from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Fairview Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Lee D. Saylor and Pastor Kim Witkovsky officiating. Interment will follow at Shellytown Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Fairview Church of the Brethren memorial fund.
