William E. Shannon Sr., 80, Bellwood, passed away Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late William P. and Mabel May (Knots) Shannon.
Surviving are seven children: Dora L. Ferry and husband, Ronald, of Altoona, William E. Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Gallitzin, Phyllis J. Garhart and husband, David, of Altoona, Brian P. of Geeseytown, Michael A. and wife, Tina, in North Carolina, Cindy A. Burd and husband, William, of Altoona and Gregory and wife, Lori, in North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene.
William owned and operated Shannon's Hauling Service for many years. He attended Riggles Gap Bible Church, and he enjoyed hunting and loved his animals.
Friends will be received from 9 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, the Rev. William Ice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
