Penn State 7, Navy 0: The Lions went 72 yards in only eight plays on their opening drive, highlighted by a 45-yard pass from Matt McGloin to Allen Robinson to set up first-and-goal at the 4. The Navy defender slipped on the play, so Robinson was wide open. Two plays later, McGloin scrambled to his right and found tight end Jesse James for a 2-yard TD with 11:25 left in the quarter.
Penn State 14, Navy 0: McGloin hit Robinson on a 45-yard TD strike on the fifth play of the next series. Robinson worked himself free down the left side, was wide open when he caught it, made one quick move and had smooth sailing to the end zone with 6:40 to go in the quarter. Navy put together a good drive on the ensuing series, getting inside the PSU 10, but quarterback Trey Miller was pressured by Sean Stanley and lofted an ill-advised pass that was intercepted by Gerald Hodges.
SECOND QUARTER
Penn State 20, Navy 0: The Lions started at their own 10 after the Hodges interception and continued to look impressive offensively with a 90-yard TD drive. Curtis Dukes did the early work on the ground, then McGloin stayed hot and picked apart Navy's secondary. He had a 19-yard pass to Robinson, a 7-yard pass to Paul Jones for his first career completion and showed good patience waiting for Brandon Moseby-Felder get open near the goal line on a 12-yard pass to the 2. McGloin found Robinson in the back of the end zone on the next play with 8:59 left in the half. Ficken missed the PAT wide right.
THIRD QUARTER
Penn State 27, Navy 0: The Lions were burned on a tipped pass that went for a TD in the opener against Ohio, and this time around they were the beneficiary of a similar play. McGloin tried to hit Trevor Williams down the middle, but the receiver tipped it, and the ball bounced right to Robinson in the end zone for a 25-yard score with 2:23 left in the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
Penn State 34, Navy 0: Linebacker Mike Hull scooped up a fumble from Navy backup quarterback Keenan Reynolds and had nothing but green in front of him as he ran for a 74-yard TD with 14:13 remaining.
Penn State 34, Navy 7: Gee Gee Greene's 12-yard TD run, against mostly backup defenders, ended the Lions' shutout bid with 10:03 to play.
